The Messengers
The ones who came first. The watchers. The whisperers.
These represent some of the earliest pieces in this evolving body of work. Quiet horse portraits, painted by instinct.
I was drawn to the Lusitano and Andalusian breeds in particular, something about their presence, their shape, the depth behind their gaze. They held a stillness that felt older than it looked.
At the time, I wasn’t painting myth. I wasn’t even sure what I was painting or why, but these horses marked a shift, from surface to soul, from observation to communion.
They weren’t just subjects.
They were messengers.
